Malnutrition in children from 3 to 5 years of patate city, ecuador 2022

Abstract

Currently, it is responsible for almost a third of deaths in children <5 years of age and a cause of intellectual and cognitive disability in the surviving population. 23.1% of children under five years of age in Ecuador have chronic child malnutrition or delayed growth, the figure increases by 28.7%. in rural communities. The main objective was to determine the incidence of child malnutrition in a CDI in Patate, Ecuador during 2022. The majority age group was from 0 to 2 years, with a predominance of males with 53.85%. Low stature predominated in the male sex with 13.33%, as well as low weight with 3.33%. Considering the BMI, 3.33% were found to be underweight; the PGC found 36.66% of moderate and severe malnutrition. 45% of the patients considered by BMI normal weight, were carriers of moderate and severe malnutrition according to PGC.
