Abstract

During 2024, Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) in Argentina was influenced by various factors that reflected both progress and challenges in the health sector. The country implemented a national strategy to improve the quality of healthcare, strengthening governance and patient safety. However, the wellbeing of the elderly population deteriorated, with a drop in the Wellbeing Index and a high percentage of people reporting feeling lonely or lacking access to mental health services.
Within the framework of MERCOSUR, coordinated actions were developed in epidemiological surveillance and a pilot plan for digital communication between countries was launched. Despite this, shared problems persisted, such as the high prevalence of non-communicable diseases. At the Latin American level, organisations such as ECLAC and PAHO promoted investment in equitable health systems, although challenges such as food insecurity and malnutrition continued to affect millions of people. The situation highlighted the need for sustained policies to improve HRQoL in the region.
