A systematic review was conducted to analyse the role of chemoreceptors and baroreceptors in blood pressure in an exploratory, non-experimental, descriptive study. The importance of these receptors in blood pressure regulation, crucial for the proper functioning of the circulatory system, was highlighted. It was noted that cardiovascular diseases, with hypertension as a major risk factor, are a significant cause of mortality worldwide, underlining the need to understand these mechanisms in order to develop effective preventive and therapeutic strategies. The research was based on studies published between 2016 and 2023, using databases such as Scielo and PubMed, as well as theses and articles from the DSpace Uniandes Institutional Repository. Eighteen studies were identified, of which 13 were included in the sample, meeting specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. This study, conducted in collaboration with several researchers at the Universidad Autónoma Regional de los Andes in Ambato, sought to understand in detail these mechanisms in order to advance in the prevention and treatment of arterial hypertension, a globally significant health problem.
