Abstract

The management of type 2 diabetes mellitus is a global challenge due to its high prevalence and complications. From a nursing perspective, a holistic approach is required that includes education, follow-up and support to promote self-care and adherence to treatment, considering the specific needs of each patient. Nurse-led interventions using mobile technology, educational and psychological support programs, and telenursing strategies have been shown to improve self-efficacy, treatment adherence, and glycemic control. However, more research is needed to assess long-term sustainability and optimize these strategies in different sociocultural contexts. Health policies should integrate these practices to effectively address this chronic disease.
