Pressure ulcers represent a significant challenge in nursing practice and are a crucial indicator of the quality of care provided to patients. These ischemic lesions affect the skin and underlying tissues due to prolonged pressure or friction, prevailing in bedridden or wheelchair-bound patients. Prevention and proper management are essential to improve patient outcomes and reduce the economic and social burden. Preventive strategies include risk assessment, use of pressure-relieving devices, and staff education. Silicone dressings and support surfaces have been shown to be effective. Ongoing training of nursing staff is crucial to improve management and prevention, highlighting the importance of training programs that increase staff knowledge and skills.
