The article addresses childhood anemia as a serious global public health problem, affecting the physical and cognitive development of children under five years of age. Iron deficiency, the main cause, is prevalent in Africa and Southeast Asia. In Ecuador, a significant increase in the prevalence of childhood anemia has been observed. This quantitative study, conducted in 54 children of the Iglesia Pacto Restauración in Santo Domingo, found that the majority had mild anemia (98%). Factors such as the youth of the guardians and the poor quality of the diet contribute to this condition. The need for educational and nutritional interventions is emphasized, highlighting the importance of breastfeeding and a balanced diet. Nursing care planning was oriented to solve problems of nutritional imbalance and constipation. The conclusions underline the urgency of educating guardians about healthy dietary practices and the importance of periodic hemoglobin controls to prevent and treat anemia.
