Hypertension is a chronic non-communicable disease considered a serious public health problem. It was important to detect the complications of patients who come to the outpatient area of Hopital San Gabriel to reduce the risks of morbidity and mortality in this risk group. In the objective of the study, educational strategies were developed to reduce general complications due to arterial hypertension in patients who attend the outpatient area of the San Gabriel Basic Hospital. The research carried out was based on a mixed, qualitative-quantitative modality, according to its scope was descriptive, bibliographic, and field type, the methods were theoretical level of knowledge, inductive-deductive, synthetic analytical, historical-logical. In which a questionnaire was applied with closed questions to know the most frequent complications. Among the main results were that 50% of the population studied does not perform physical activity, 41% does not attend a medical examination, and only 24% take medication at the indicated time. It is concluded that non-attendance at medical examination, lack of physical activity, and non-compliance with medication are factors that can complicate the health of hypertensive patients
