Abstract

Caries in adolescents, it is very common to hear that, but because there is such a recurring frequency of suffering from this condition, the findings of a study carried out to identify the main causes of dental caries in students of the "Vicente Anda Aguirre" Educational Unit. The study revealed that poor oral hygiene and a diet high in sugars and carbohydrates were the main contributors to the development of cavities in students. Lack of access to oral health education was also one of the most significant factors. The results of this study may be used to implement preventive measures in the Educational Unit "Vicente Anda Aguirre" and improve the oral health of students. However, more research is needed to determine if these findings can be generalized to other populations. 
In addition, it was discovered that carrying cavities in adolescents is very harmful because, when they are going through puberty, they have hormonal changes, which causes them some suspicion or shame, since their image will be affected and therefore their self-esteem as well, making the If a person enters a state of distrust, this will affect both psychologically and physically, as it will cause poor academic performance.
